As you can see, it's been quite a while since I last updated this. I took a break from decorating and EQ2 in general for a while. But something keeps drawing me back. First I pottered around, explored the new expansion and then turned my attention back to a decorating project I had started a couple of years ago. A wild west inspired main street, complete with a general store, a saloon, bank, jail, mill and farm house. I'm not a fast decorator. I'm in awe of those people that put out project after project in days. My projects take months at the least and in this case (even considering the break) has taken me an awful long time. But I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

Have been working on Adjutant's Convalescence Centre for what feels like ages - but it's finally finished. Hurrah! Of course, I always take loads of time compared to some decorators. I like to take my time and dither about details, tear stuff down and try it again, get distracted by pretty much anything that might wander by, decide to go and forage for rares rather than buy them and take ages to eventually remember I'm working on something and decide to head back.
I'm really quite pleased how this one turned out. Some of the amazing designers out there produce these lovely sleek modern designs that always make mine look a bit rough around the edges. Adjutant's residence though, has slowly grown into one of my favourites and it's about as minimalistic as I'm likely to ever get :) There are some fun touches that I am particularly fond of....the wheelchair in the wards, the elevators (3 of them!), the morgue (this was a complete add-on at the last minute when I was showing J the elevators he said "cool, do these go to the morgue?" I'm thinking, noooooo, but it SHOULD do! And so the morgue was born), the kitchen and I really love the bedroom furniture - although it's nothing super special, I just love how it turned out :) So, real life has been getting in the way again and is likely to continue to do so in ever increasing ways for the next couple of months so am unsure of which project to start next. Possibly something with a little less scope? I'm thinking maybe a tinkerfest project since that should be kicking off in the near future. Anyway, if you check out the Convalescence Centre feel free to let me know what you think :) Hi and welcome to the site. It's a bit bare at the moment, I'm still getting things up and running but am hoping that there's a bit more content soon.
So, what kind of stuff to put in? When I decided to start experimenting with setting up a site my thoughts immediately turned to EQ2 and the decorating side of things because that's what I spend most of my in-game time doing. The first thing I thought was items. Quite recently, we've been getting limited as to where we could go to view a good all-round collection of items. There are already some great sites out there. EQ2 Traders has an excellent collection that concentrates on player made items. Recently returned is EQ2 Decorators which has a fantastic gallery of house items that includes quested, purchased from merchants in-game and station cash items in addition to the player made things. This site was severely missed and I am extremely pleased to see it back. So, rather than bite off more than I can chew, I started small and at the moment I'm just putting up a gallery of my work so far. I'm considering room by room examples of ideas which would require input from other decorators so that if you were needing inspiration or wanted to see how other people had done something in particular, like say an oven, you could go to the kitchens page and scroll through the examples to see what you like. I know that EQ2 decorators has something along those lines but I think there's room out there for more inspiration :) Since this is an experiment for me, I'll be tinkering for a while trying this and that, learning as I go and seeing what I like. Any feedback, comments, suggestions are always welcome. Cheers! |
